NOVENA PRAYER TO ST ANTHONY OF PADUA (THE HOLY MATCHMAKER), FEAST DAY: JUNE 13th

By the Sign + of the Cross, save us God, from our + enemies. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

My Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, I believe that You are really and truly present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, with Your Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

FIRST DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, totally loving the Supreme God, you became a man of prayer and sought the consecrated life in order to live the plentitude of life. Arouse in today’s Christians the same love and disposition you had. Ruled by encountering the Lord, may we become men of God for today’s men. May we seek in prayer the strength to act.

DAILY PRAYER:
Glorious St Anthony, I welcome you inside my heart, and I congratulate you for the marvellous prerogative with which God favoured you, choosing you to be a model of Christian virtues, consolation of the afflicted and refuge of the forsaken. Take me by the hand through every danger and obstacle so that I may arrive at the enjoyment of eternal blessedness in your company. Amen.

God Our Father, You have given us the example of the saints so that, imitating them on earth, we me always resemble more the image of Your Son and, one day, dwell together with You. Grant me through the intercession of St Anthony, Your faithful servant on this earth, the grace which I ardently ask for today. Amen.

SECOND DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, you admired the example of St Francis and became Francis. Arouse in the heart of many youths the vocation to consecrated poverty and love of nature as reflections of the Father. May we always feel more like one family with the earth, plants and animals. Protecting nature, we are implanting on this earth the signs of God’s Kingdom beginning here.

THIRD DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, you collaborated in the reform of the Church with your example and preaching. Inspire the Church of our times. May it always be among men a faithful testimony of the love of Jesus whom you loved so much and imitated in your life.

FOURTH DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, you were entrusted with defending the faith and fighting against the heresies that arose in your time. Inspire the Christians of our days to love the evangelical truths and to keep far away from all the false doctrine that claims to be the font of salvation. May we only seek to follow the Lord and be of service and committed to the road of conquering the definitive Kingdom.

FIFTH DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, no one has equalled the ardent desire you had to become a missionary. Arouse in the heart of many Christians a similar vocation. In the same way, inspire perseverance in those who work in missionary activity in our country and abroad in other ones.

SIXTH DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, you wanted to fully love the Lord, consecrating your life in a religious community. Arouse a similar desire in the heart of many youth. May more collaborators with the Kingdom begun by Jesus always come forward from our communities. Inspire also, St Anthony, the perseverance of our priests, seminarians and religious in general.

SEVENTH DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, innumerable persons acclaimed you as being a distinguished preacher. Teach us Christians to use our tongue for good purposes. May we banish from our midst vices like gossiping, intrigue and lying. In this manner, we will become more like the image of the God you loved so much.

EIGHTH DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, in your sermons, you defended the poor against the greedy lords of the land. Inspire the Church today to practise love, solidarity and preference for the less favoured of our society. May we be able to see in the poorest the face of Jesus whom we are seeking.

NINTH DAY:
O admirable St Anthony, you reconciled the divergences existing between many cities of your time. Inspire love of community life and solidarity in the inhabitants of our cities. May we never be afraid of meeting to pray, defend our rights, and to enjoy moments of leisure. By doing this, we defend life, the greatest miracle of creation.
