1- For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
2-Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
3-But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
4-Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
5-Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
6-When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.
7-Those who guard their lips preserve their lives,
but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.
8-Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions.
9-Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
10-“I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king.”
